- Does DropMessenger really work?
- Yes. We use publicly available information from your school to determine when seats become available in classes you are trying to register for.
Even though our service is to notify you at the moment a seat becomes available, it is up to you to register for that class as soon as possible.
- How does DropMessenger work?
- Once you have registered for an account, you can add classes for DropMessenger to monitor. As soon as a seat becomes available, DropMessenger
will send you an email and text message notifying you. That's it!
- What's the point of DropMessenger?
- We realize there are a variety of ways to add a class that is full in every college. DropMessenger is a service of convenience, we simply monitor class
levels and notify you of availabilities. DropMessenger gives you peace of mind in that you will be quickly notified in the event of a vacancy.
- I'm not getting my notifications!
- Double check your email address, phone number, and mobile carrier information in your account settings. If you are still not
getting your notifications, please contact us.
- What if DropMessenger cannot find my class?
- Please double check your information, but if you swear DropMessenger cannot find a class that exists, please contact us!
- I'm not getting my notification emails!
- This is likely due to an over zealous spam filter. Please be sure to allow all emails coming from dropmessenger.com to come through.
- I got a notification that a seat was available, but when I tried to register there were no empty seats!
- Unfortunately, this can happen. Sometimes students drop and re-add the same class, sometimes they trade with friends, and sometimes someone else just gets lucky.
While we do all that we can to provide you with a valuable and accurate notification service, we cannot guarantee that a seat will always be open even if you received a
DropMessenger notification. DropMessenger will continue to monitor the class for you and re-notify you in the event of another opening.
- Will I be charged for SMS/text-message notifications?
- Yes. Your mobile carrier's standard messaging charges apply. We are not responsible for any fees occurred as a result of using our service.
To disable DropMessenger's messages to your mobile phone, simply remove your phone number from your account settings page.
- What Colleges do you support?
- At the moment we only support students at the University of Utah (go Utes!). We have plans to add more colleges as demand dictates. Contact us
if you would like us to add your college. Be aware that not all colleges and universities make their course information publicly available and timely.
- Is DropMessenger free?
- Yes! Although, it is worth noting that we may add a small charge for the service in the future if use causes our costs to rise.
- What does DropMessenger have planned for the future?
- We plan to integrate our service into other web services like Facebook, Twitter, and OpenID. Let us know if you have any other ideas or feature requests!
- How did DropMessenger begin?
- Necessity really. The founder was always a little behind when it came time to register, so he developed a little program to notify him when seats became available.
He got into some great classes at great times using this tool, so he thought others could make use of it as well.
